With all the parts for the Ducati now in hand it was time to put it back together far enough to turn it over and see what happens. The good news is that it turned over fine, the bad news is that it wouldn't start. I tried it a few times and then my worst nightmare happened - the new starter motor lost interest in turning the engine over. It wasn't like last time, the engine wasn't locked and it was actually turning over quite well then it started making a horrendous squealing sound and now that's about all it does. To say I am miffed is a massive understatement, getting another starter is money and a big chunk of time, I'm not sure I can be bothered, it's probably time to give up and break it for parts. While I hate admitting defeat I am finding it hard to justify spending any more time on it, it's horrible to work on, I think I will stick to Japanese in the future. Oh well, we live and learn.
